Lightning Hopkins original folk blues/A legend in his own time 1972 8-track tape release. Hard tape to find these days.
My grandmother used to sing this and get us kids footstomping through the dogtrot.
Soothing and traditional...nice photos, too...
Great musician and songwriter! The first photo. 😂

In very loving memory of Mr. Clyde "Hot Shot" Langford (1934 - 2017 R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten).

Love it! I’m from Clarksdale. And you’re not!
How can I be the ONLY one ever committed on my admiration for Clyde Hopkins ?
This guy is rocking. Thank you for recording and posting.
Cool blues!
Mr. David and Scott Riggan would set up a "recording studio" in the showroom of Jack's Cycles in Sanford after work on Saturday afternoons. There they would play and record for hours. Mr. David LOVED to play and if he had an audience of one he would be just as content as he would if he were playing in front of thousands ( which he also did!). He was a unique and talented man , a good friend and he is sorely missed !
That’s my dad!!!!!! Thank you for sharing

Is it in key of a A that harmonica?
He's my great uncle
pretty sure I met him a few times at the Nashville Grassroots festival. Did he used to make marbles?
He made an earlier recording around 1954 - a field recording which was issued on a Folkways Records “Music from the South” - Volume 5 - FA2654 - Celeste Dunbar (SD’s wife) sung several verses & contributed atmosphere. I had not realized that there was a later recording - this one, apparantly made around 1970. Thanks for posting this one on UA-cam!
Is he from Free Hills, TN (Celina)? If this is him, my Grandmother is 99 and grew up with him. She remembers these song.
